Progress Report

A while back (several years) I took 

"The Process Pledge"

what that means is to show the step by step

process of the quilts I share.

Now it has been awhile since I have done that

so I have decided this is a good one to share.

So here goes.

In my last post I shared my beginning design 

and some of the elements for the quilt.

Now to how it is done.

The design is call 

"Friendship Star"

I am making a twin size quilt.

Cut 8 strips that are 4 1/2 inches by WOF

(width of fabric) of the 3 main colors.

Cut each strip at 4 1/2 inches to create squares.

Next, cut 6 strips @ 4 7/8 inches by WOF in red and blue

12 in white.

Sub cut these to 9 3/4 inches

 Place a red or a blue right sides together with a white

 On the white (or light fabric if your using something else)

draw lines like so, for my quilt I did this 17 times with the red/white combo

and 16 times for the blue/white combo.

Using your 1/4 inch foot on your machine, sew a 1/4 inch

on either side of the lines that go in the V shape.  The line up

the middle is not sewn.

Now that the V is sewn on both sides of the drawn line

you will cut the blocks apart on all drawn lines.

Since you made a line of sewing on both sides of the drawn 

line making the V shape the drawn line goes inbetween the sewn lines

and when cut on the drawn line you have 

created a half square triangle like this.  Do this with 

both your red and white combo & your blue and white combo.

Press seams to the dark fabric.

I have the red and white combo done, working on the blue and white.

A New Project...Red, White and Blue

I am starting a new project

here are some of the elements that will be in it.

 The blue is darker then showing up here.

 My plan

White squares with dark blue stars

Red squares (with gold stars) with white stars

Eagles around center

Center will (instead of star indicated here)

be a red square with 

"In God We Trust" 

embroidered in white on it.

White border between blocks with blue strip corner blocks

border 1 blue strip

border 2 red fabric with gold stars.

Will post more as progress moves forward.

Baby Lock Enterprise

Wow, things have been crazy around here the last few weeks

We (Kirk and I) have been waiting for

some things to fall into place.  It took awhile

but things have finally happened.  

One of the things is to start a new business.

It goes along with another venture but 

I will save that for another day.

The new business is Embroidery

Custom embroidery.

Blue Hills Embroidery

After much research the Baby Lock Enterprise 

10 needle embroidery machine was chosen.

I am not accustom to spending that much money, 

I was very nervous the day we pick it up.

After some frustration (getting acquainted) I have

learned to play well with my machine, though I still have

a ton to learn.

Don't laugh at the colors, as I only have a few and

had to make due.

Oh this machine does beautiful work, oh my I am so 

happy with it.  It has great features.

Below;  adding letters to my daughters bag....so pretty.

Here is the bag finished, do you think she will

be the best dressed teacher at school?

Then I decided to put names on quilts.  

I am getting pretty good at positing things

Your suppose to give your machines names...right?

Much to learn, but I pray I will please the Lord with this business

We will do custom work, focusing on the off road racing  sport.

BUT......I will do other things too, hoping for alot of local work.

Quilt labels, quilt squares, jackets, hats, if I can hoop it

we will embroider it.

As of this posting Ashlee's quilt is off the longarm,

and ready for binding.

These quilts are for friends of my daughters

who lost their home in the tornado that

hit Moore, OK.

This is Ashlee's top completed.

Next step, to the longarm.

Have not begun the babies quilt yet, thinking perhaps 

an I spy.  

Sorry I have been so busy these days, I do have many quilts to share

and hope to be doing that in a few days.

Pink and White

Yes, it has been a long time.

Yes, I am still quilting.

Yes, I have things to share.

Yes, I will get on to sharing.

This sweet little quilt is one I did for a friends daughter.

I love the color and the quilting.

Things Are Out of Control

THINGS ARE OUT OF CONTROL

AGAIN!

No matter how hard one tries to stop it,

fabric multiplies, and multiplies.

It is everywhere!

Then you cut some for a project,

now you have little bits 

and the big question then is do I save it

or not, can I use it for something else?

So then what was sort of neat

is no more.

So it is time to clean up again.

Now I do share my sewing area with my bedroom

we are still working on the studio upstairs.

I hate to move all this up there just yet.

But I may just do it so maybe 

I can have a neater bedroom.
