RR details and a New block

This block belongs to my friend Susan, we are doing a RR with a small group of our friends.

My work on the block include, adding the green rick rack along the bottom of the block, using Sassa Lynne thread in Sherwood Forest, a fine perle cotton, hand dyed. Then a bit of sparkle with wine color glass seed beads. Next I found this fun red butterfly, Susan had mentioned that she'd like a butterfly. I also wanted to do something with the piece in the upper right, this looks like a part of a hankie so just to enhance the design, single french knots in lavender rayon thread follower the curves along the top and a running stitch hugs the lower part to hold it in place.

A close up of the rick rack seam.

Close up of butterfly and french knots.

Whats next?

A block made from ties.

My friend Judy's husband passed away last year and she wanted a block from his ties for her son. I didn't want a regular CQ design so instead brought in this design, inspired by a drawing in Carole Samples book, Treasury of Crazy Quilt Stitches, page 135. Wanting it to be more tailored, this block will showcase stitches alone, no beads or SR, more in keeping with something for a guy.

As a Note, I have been side tracked lately from work on the Christmas Stocking with making a rag quilt for my son and beginning 2 more for DSIL and DFIL... Christmas is coming quickly and I need to get going on those.

I want to say a huge Thank You, to everyone who has ordered from my Etsy, I appreciate your orders, I will be adding new items shortly.

OK, better get going and update my Wyoming blog, I have been reminded it has been a long time since I have done that.

God Bless

Where does time go?

Where did the week go? I can't believe it has been a week since I posted last.

I have sent my Under the Sea blocks and friends off to Leslie, they should arrive at her house tomorrow.

I have been wanting to try painting on dryer sheets, which I first learn about from Pam and you can see how here and here. Here is what I did, some little friends for the special quilt. I don't know how Leslie will use them but they were fun at any rate.

My two finished UTS blocks for the charity project for the kids cancer ward.

Appleblossom RR - my block - more details

Here are the last bits of detail of the work on my block.

This first picture is of the wonderful bullion rose spray in Alpaca thread, that Bonnie did with pretty rhinestones. On the right is a seam treatment also in Alpaca thread and hand dyed silk thread with flower sequins and beads, perfect.

Now you can also see more of Bonnie's work here, the triangle space to the right of my ladies head is done in beautiful spider web roses in two colors of rayon thread. Next she added the pretty flower lace which she dyed in walnut halves, putting rhinestones to the center.

You will also notice the lovely SR roses above the ladies head, these were created by Debbie.

Debbie also put a pretty wisteria branch in the upper left corner (below).

I hope I have not missed to much. There are a couple of motifs that I don't know who to credit. I am sorry this is not a better picture of the whole block, I have taken over 10 to try and get it all to show nicely. Please enlarge so you can take in all to fantastic work these talented ladies have shared with me on my block.

Thank you Jo, Bonnie, Cobi and Debbie for all of the beautiful stitches you have lovingly put onto my block. It is amazing!!

Appleblossom RR - my block - more details

Today I am showing you the work that Jo did on my block

Jo created the spider web rose motif and the upside down buttonhole stitch.
(You have to click to enlarge these, you just have to)
The bullion rose spray is Bonnie's handy work and we will look at it again.
The green Art Nouveau twig on the bottom is Cobi's

Below, is her hand-dyed lace and SRE rose motif with fly stitch leaves.

I can tell you that these pictures do not come close to doing justice to the beautiful work these ladies have done. I am every so thankful.

Apple Blossom RR -- Block is home

In March my nakkid Apple Blossom RR block left home to travel the world. After a couple stops in the USA, it went abroad visiting the Netherlands and New Zealand.

The work added to my block is fantastic and is the first block I have received back where I have not had to add anything, what a delight to have it all done for me. Thank you to Jo, Bonnie, Debbie and Cobi for all the lovely work you each put into this block. I just can't seem to get enough of it.

First just a reminder of how it looked when it began it's worldly travels.

Below is some of Cobi work. Remember to click for a closer look and you really want a closer look at these beautiful stitches.

More details to come along with the dressed up block.

Karrin's RR finished

Thank you all for your comforting words and hugs over the lose of our sweet little Rusty, it has been a week now and we still find ourselves looking for him, missing his sweet and sometimes annoying ways. Playing ball is alot more quite and goes like it should instead of Rusty making up his own rules. Lady clings to us alot more and Me Moew the cat doesn't get his personalized Rusty Does anymore. Sigh.
**************************

Now to share Karrin's beautiful block with you, it is such a fantastic work of art.

My additions to the block are below. I hand painted the dragonflies, made french knot flowers for the angle's hair, a bouquet of flowers for the side of the pond. Feather stitch seam treatment and buttonhole edge treatment to go around the large dragonfly.

This large dragonfly has beads on it's tail and both have heat set crystal eyes.

Hope you enjoy it Karrin.
