End of Year Quilting and Embroidery 2014

End Year Quilting

2014

Well, here we are at the week between
Christmas and New Years

A lot has been accomplished this year.
4 custom quilts
3 bathrobes
countless sets of towels
hats galore
quilting done for others

Just this last few days I quilted a top for
my friend Kathy, did manage to get it done by Christmas eve day.

She did a beautiful job on the design and piecing
I got to add to it with quilting.

Today I finished a small bear quilt for my husband

It is now hanging in its place.

 The new owners of
3 of the quilts I was honored to make this year.

The Pooh quilt, the White Camo quilt and the Taz quilt.
Hope they find lots of comforting
snuggles under these quilts.

Towels for the grandchildren

Robes made for Terry and Billie

I am looking forward to new quilting and
embroidery adventures in 2015
I see many hoodies in my future as
the embroidery machine stitches along.
My hope is to finish my Ruffled Roses quilt in time for
Cowboy Carnival at the end of May.
So stay tuned, I have
more to share.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Winnie the Pooh Quilt

Winnie the Pooh Quilt

Completed

I am pleased to say the Winnie the Pooh quilt
I have been working on is complete and
ready to go to it's new home.

Here are some final details

I decided to add rick rack to the binding of this quilt
Both in pink and in green to go with the
colors of the quilt.
I love the star binding fabric and the pink rick rack is perfect
for this quilt.
 Beginning the process
Binding finished, one corner with pink and green
 and another corner
 Owners block
 Some of the embroidery designs

 Label
 Important pictures
I have enjoyed working on this quilt, as well as
the other quilts in this group.
and the one that began this journey
With one more to go,
the Eagle Camo quilt...also refered to as the Bear quilt.
This quilt is nearing ready for the longarm
I need to construct the back with the
special pictures sent for it.
I will be posting as I go along.
Hard to believe I am nearly done with this
set of quilts.

This work has been such a blessing and honor for
me to do, the trust given me to create such special gifts is
over whelming.

On the longarm.  Used a variegated blue thread.
Each of the embroideries have close stippling, to help them stand out.

Winnie the Pooh Quilt

Winnie the Pooh Quilt

The Pooh quilt is ready to go on the longarm.
Got the back finished up today.
We have had a busy week with grandsons
here for hunting.
Now back to my quilting

Here are some pictures of what has been added to the
back of this quilt.   To make it very personalized
we have a picture of its new owner and one with great
symbolism for the one commissioning the quilt.
And the label for the quilt.  I love how this turned out.

Eagle Camo Quilt

Many hour have been spent finishing up the embroidery
for this quilt.  It will be next for the longarm
just waiting for some important elements to arrive so
I can construct the backing for it.
In the mean time here are some embroidery high lights.

 Names for quilt
Red, White and Blue American Eagle
 Deer in cross hairs
 Elk and deer embroidery
Just a peek.  Opps I left one out......
will share it next time.
Until then.

Retreat Time

Time for a Quilt Retreat

Retreat time
Spending time in the mountains
and sewing for hours upon hours upon hours.
Our surroundings at Sunlight Retreat grounds.
Early morning sunshine
 Viewed from our porch
3 days of sewing, chatting, eating and more sewing
the Winnie the Pooh quilt top.....done

Eagle Camo quilt top, ready for the long arm
Close up of sections of the scenes
 another scene
Black bear for Kirk, ready for the longarm
And finally, the Ruffled Roses quilt top is done,
it only took 4 years, but it is done.  Next it will be longarm time,
but after the others are done, as this one will take extra
time to do.
Very productive weekend to say the least.

More updates to come on each as they get quilted and
all final details are completed.

Quilt Teasers-Eagle Camo & Pooh

Eagle Camo

Pooh

Teasers

Fussy cut blocks for the Pooh quilt.
What is fussy cut?  Cutting holes in yardage of fabric to get
a special element.
Fussy cutting leaves fabric with many holes in it.
3 of the 4 colors that will be going with the fussy cut Pooh blocks.

And two elements that will be included in the Eagle Camo quilt.

These are both Willow Bend designs
