Garden Party--the whole quilt

After showing you all of the individual blocks, here is the whole quilt. I looked long and hard for the pink sashing fabric..I knew just what I wanted and by golly I found it in a quilt shop in Northern California. The green rose sashing fabric I think I found on a trip here to Wy several years before we moved here (only to bring it back to Wy to construct the quilt top last year).

The quilt setting idea came from Sharyn Craig's book Setting Solutions, which I highly recommend to any quilter for ideas on ways to set quilts. It is a wonderful book and really opened my eyes to alot of possibilities.

Christmas Stocking Update

Here is one of the seam treatments on the Christmas Stocking. Buttonhole back to back with seed beads to top it off.

I am now working on the gold rick rack seam and just cut out some fabric to make a poinsettia. We shall see how that comes out.

A little side trip

Just a little side trip from the Cq Christmas stocking to see how the "Garden Party" quilt is coming along. Below are some of the blocks from the quilt, which was a swap with the gals on my online group Quilts On Review. It took me a while to quilt it up because I did each block with a different design, so to enjoy the quilting click on the picture to make it bigger. I am afraid I don't remember who did which block, I had them all labeled until of course I put the quilt together. Sigh. I can tell you that the first block was made by Liane Michaels and I made the pink and white "Rose" block (3rd one). Enjoy.

Christmas Stocking Update

A little update on the progress of the Christmas stocking I started a few days ago. The beautiful laces came from the lace buys Susan has been doing, aren't they wonderfully elegant? They really add to the Victorian feel of the piece.

Next you see a gold rick rack, this is a piece I got from my MIL and I believe is quite old, the Herringbone stitch is what I used to hold it in place. I have begun a seam treatment on the toe which is using the Buttonhole stitch.

I finally got my Garden Party quilt off of the longarm machine a couple of days ago and have attached the binding, which now needs to be hand stitched down, but I am not sure I will do that just now.....it is a bit warm to have a quilt on ones lap....LOL. Today I put on an AmHero quilt and got it quilted as well, I need to get the binding on it.....tomorrow another AmHero quilt goes on the machine. I will share these with you soon.

Thank you for stopping by, it means so much to have you visit.
Until later.................God Bless

New Project - Christmas Stocking

I have been thinking about making Christmas stockings for about a year now. I am ready.....
So I pulled some fabrics to see what I might want to do first, and here they are. I love jewel tones so that is what ended up in the pile. I have no idea who this might go to.

Of all these colors I pulled 7 plus a lace. Below is the result. I hope to have updates for you several time this week. Click on the picture for a closer look.

I want to make stockings for everyone in my family which equals 11....I will make them to reflect their interests, that is why I am not sure who this will go to......perhaps I will keep this one, it will allow me to practice before making the others.

Scrapbooking of Quilting

I have been taking a some time off from quilting. So instead I have began to scrapbook my quilting. Here is a couple of pages I did today. These pages are of the I Spy quilts I did for my grandsons.

Things are better now and I am getting past the burnout, so hope to be back to quilting shortly. Have been working on my Garden Party quilt off and on, on the longarm machine and hope to show you that soon.

We just had company and it was good to get out, spending some time out and about, I needed that and I think it is what has helped. More scrapbooking pages to come, documenting my work, besides it is the only thing I have to remember these quilts.

Until Later, God Bless

Pink and Cream RR- Jo's Block

This block belongs to Jo of Nz. Jo's block has one more person to work on it and then it will be headed home. The work on these blocks are so lovely.

I decided, after much deliberations to add a "J" to the middle of the block. Letters are fun to do and the combo of silk roses and french knots with the gold thread are pleasing to me.
Next, I felt a vine would be nice with a pretty butterfly to visit the flowers. Another addition is some pink silk ribbon, to the lace that was already on the block.

Here you can see every ones work on this pretty block.

The ladies in this RR are very talented and I am honored to be a part of this group. I just got word that Bonnie's block will be winging its way to me shortly.

And some more lace...........remember you can click on the picture to get a closer look. The next by is in September. Lace buy group.

This is going to be a busy week, DH family is coming for a visit....this is a good thing, but will require me to do work I would not normally do. LOL. So less time for crafting.

Until later..........................

WaHooo

Finally.........it only took two weeks of not quilting to get past the um drums. You know how it is to loss your desire to do your favorite thing because you have been doing it at high speed for so long.

Today I went down to work on my longarm, feeling a little bit ready. I had to frog a section, took about an hour, then did a little adjustment to the tension and started quilting.....4 hours later I had to quite so I could make dinner, but I was not ready. It feels good to be back at it. I don't want to over do it again, but we all know how that goes. My list of want to do is pretty long. VBG.

Here is another quilt from the quilt show for you to enjoy.

This quilt received second place in the medium size quilt category. It is a Sunbonnet Sue and is a really cute quilt.
**Remember you can click on it to make it bigger for a
closer view of the detail.

That is it for right now, I am working on some stitching which I hope to have an update on for you. Hopefully by the end of the week I will have the current quilt off the longarm so I can show it to you. It is taking somewhat longer because each block is being quilted individually with different designs. Sew........Until later.

Quilt Show First Place

Here is the First Place quilt (large) from our towns quilt show. There were about 50 quilts entered. It is interesting how different quilt shows go, with this one all the picture type quilts won peoples choice. It wasn't about quality but the picture. LOL. All the quilts chosen are lovely quilts, it is just interesting what will be chosen from one show to another.

None of my quilts placed which upset me at first, which is silly since I didn't expect to place. I guess it is that little thing inside each of us that wants that recognition. Several people came up to me and complemented my work....what more can I ask for.

I have not been doing much on the quilting scene this last couple weeks, I guess I over did it. So instead I am doing some scrapbooking and had to work on my computer since it was running out of space....Yikes.

I will share a couple more of the quilts from the show in the next few days. I may share some of the scrapbook pages if anyone is interested. Let me know.

Until later,
